Derek Browne

CEO of Entrepreneurs in Action

Derek Browne is the Chief Executive of Entrepreneurs in Action (EiA), founded in 2003. He is a social entrepreneur who has committed his own capital to develop a new generation of entrepreneurs drawn from the across the UK and from diverse backgrounds, from gifted and talented to challenging.

He believes that with the right mindset anything is possible in your personal or business life. He has a background in investment banking having worked for The Securities and Investment Board (now FSA), Barings Investment Bank as a trader and Foreign Exchange Dealer, and Merrill Lynch as a senior Private Banker to many of the UK’s leading young entrepreneurs.

He was also a keen athlete. During his time at Barings, he combined his job with his interest in athletics and competed internationally as a triple jumper in the UK and Europe. In 2006 he was awarded The Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion and in 2007 he gave the address to the 2007 recipients.

He was a finalist of the 2006 Daily Telegraph Business Personality of the year award. A popular and well known commentator on entrepreneurship and young people, he has been interviewed by CNN, The Economist, Financial Times, Daily Telegraph, The Independent on Sunday and Director magazine.

Derek can be booked to deliver keynote speaches for organisations or to deliver talks to young people to help raise aspirations, open thier minds to what can be acheived and inspire them to pursue their individual passion.
