Serco Classroom to Boardroom Challenge

Yet another first for EiA! SERCO, one of the world’s leading service companies, commissioned EiA to run 2 pilots, to test how EiA’s innovative programmes could help develop their future talent streams.

EiA arranged two week-long ‘Classroom to Boardroom’ programmes with year 9/10s at Walworth Academy and 16/17 year olds at Southwark College. At the end of each week the young people presented to a panel of Executives from SERCO, including Directors.

SERCO’s work ranges from the management of facilities, projects and IT systems, through to the creation of entirely new businesses. This includes the financing, design and build of new facilities, including hospitals and transport systems, as well as their day-to-day operation. They run world-class scientific establishments, provide critical information to manage traffic, maintain buildings, operate railways and detain offenders.

At Walworth the students developed a marketing strategy to encourage 16-18 year old girls and boys from diverse backgrounds to become apprentices/employees and join the company. At Southwark College the students worked on a strategy to tackle the ‘digital divide’. The panels of 7 top Serco Executives were blown away by what they saw and heard!
