Inner City Students challenged at Cambridge University!
EiA partnered with the Specialist Schools Trust and developed an innovative project to take a group of inner city students in 2005 to Cambridge University over the Easter holidays for a residential entrepreneurial camp.
Students from 3 London schools - Parkview Academy, Stoke Newington High School and Central Foundation School for boys - were invited onto the programme, each selecting several students to send.
Once at Cambridge the students were quickly immersed in the world of business and work began almost immediately. After 2 days of sessions covering a variety of topics, from networking skills to marketing and personal finance, the students were ready for their business challenges. The challenges were set by both Barclays Bank and Angel Trains.
Students were divided groups and teams competed against each other to present the best solution to the problems set by the businesses.
Over the course of a day, the students worked in groups to research and design promotional materials for their new products, to be presented the following day.
The students then presented their ideas to an audience of over 50 and the feedback was extremely positive.
