Woodbridge School Classroom to Boardroom

"Presenting to the board members- although it was challenging, it was the most enjoyable part." Woodbridge School, Student

For the first time, from the 22nd June to 26th June 2015, Entrepreneurs in Action ran a Classroom to Boardroom programme with 20 students from Woodbridge School in Suffolk. The challengers for the programme were – Voyage Control and Cognicity.

Voyage Control builds technology to make transport more efficient. Their aim is to bridge the demand and supply gap between transport users and providers in order to generate significant changes (voyagecontrol.com/).

Coginicity is a pioneering future city project set up by Canary Wharf Group to identify and accelerate the development of smart city technologies, helping to create one of the world’s leading smart city quarters within one of the world’s greatest capital cities (cognicity.london/).

The Classroom to Boardroom challenge set was "How can technology help to create a vibrant place for people to live and work in an inner city development?"

The presentation on the final day for Voyage Control and Cognicity was held at the offices of Coginicity (Level 24, 1 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London, E14 5AB).

The students were given great reviews from the guests and teachers:

  • I think the presentations were fantastic, they were well prepared and the students had to prepare them by themselves. Their independence has been encouraged but they have been mentored and guided by David who has been with them all week. They went in confident, well prepared and ready to deliver. Janine Wright, Business Studies and Enterprise Lead, Woodbridge School
  • I was impressed by the passion of the group. We had a group of people who were passionate about Smart Cities, the research, the movements they would like to see involved in their Smart City concept and they were passionate about working with each other. Brad Goodall, COO at ENTIQ
  • I have been very impressed by the comprehensive picture and approach the students have taken. They have clearly researched their topic. They had a brand that resonated with that. Given the time they had they came up with some tremendous potential areas. They did a first class job. Ian Jones, General Manager at Intel UK
  • What’s impressed me most about today has been the breadth of ideas, there is no shortage of talent and creativity. Another thing is the cohesion in the teams; the effort put in to who does what, who would be disciplined enough to deliver with quality and credibility. The work put into the research for the project and, finally, I think the quality of the branding came through beautifully; it was simple, it was elegant and it was symbolic. Nicole Anderson-Mort, CEO and Cofounder of FinTech Circle Innovate
